So I got to thinking... what would I get if I won that prize? Well, I went to their website and started checking out the options. I'm plus-sized, a pretty solid 16. It's not the 'prettiest' of sizes, but I've come to be comfortable with it. I've been learning how to dress my size, look trendy and sophisticated while maintaining what I personally enjoy. Or at least attempting to.
My go-to places usually involve Modcloth or Torrid, because they have some fun options for 20-30 somethings. So based on what I liked there, I was hoping to find some interesting stuff at a more high-end store. I was a bit confused at what I saw...
There ARE some nice plus-sized options at Nordstrom, don't get me wrong. There were a lot of lovely dresses and some nice jackets, but in the Tops department, it seemed lacking. There were a lot of tops that had a similar look: oversized, baggy, loose, and just overall unflattering!
Despite all this, however, they did have one collection that stood out, called City Chic. And it WAS Chic! Interesting patterns, cute dresses, some interesting tunics and tops, plus colorful basics. There were a few baggy looks, but overall it was fun and hip, and it seems that Nordstrom is definitely making a good attempt at trendy clothing for plus-size young women!
So after seeing this new collection, I started to look harder for things that I personally would like to have. I've compiled a short wish-list of things, as seen below.
I chose two options from the City Chic collection, and found a few other items that I rather liked before going to look at shoes. The definite favorite pieces of mine would have to be the City Chic "Feel the Beat" Zipper Dress and the Sole Society "Anneke" Pump. They are fierce and fabulous!
